South America was always on my wish-list of places to visit and, even though I was lucky enough to have made my first visit back in 2005, it’s going to stay on my list – there’s just so much to see there.  I didn’t have as much time on that trip as I would have liked but my first touchdown was in beautiful Buenos Aires.  That city is just so amazing and I loved the architecture; I now know why it is so often referred to as the ‘South American Paris’.  Having spent some days and nights exploring the city and indulging in the delicious food, I flew on to Rio de Janeiro – where I believe my first word was ‘Wow!’   The highlight of Rio for me was taking the tour up Corcovado Mountain to see the mammoth statue of Christ the Redeemer and then having that glorious bird’s-eye view of the city stretched out below.  It was short but such a memorable trip that I’m hoping it’s not too long before I return to explore new areas of the continent.  It is a part of the world that truly fascinates me (although it may have to wait just a little longer as I’m off to take a look at Costa Rica!)
