Mashpi Lodge is unique. It offers all travellers a window into a Cloud Forest Reserve whilst staying in a small boutique lodge with extremely comfortable rooms and gourmet cuisine. Activities offered, escorted by expert guides (often local guides trained by the lodge), include hikes along well made trails, sky-bike (where you pedal yourself through the canopy), a gondola (small cable car) with 9 towers, a butterfly house, a hummingbird experience and an observation tower. High quality spa treatments are also available. Yaku Suites
The lodge’s three Yaku Suites (Yaku is a Kichwa word meaning “water”) are perfect for couples looking for a more intimate, luxury experience. The state-of-the-art tubs in these rooms offer the perfect opportunity to soak and relax after a day of exciting forest activities.
Wayra Rooms
Wayra rooms (Wayra is the Kichwa word for “wind”) are ideal for large groups or families. These rooms can be interconnected for a more shared experience. They are spread out over the three levels of our lodge, so you can choose the view: forest floor or canopy and above.
Wawa Rooms
Wawa Room (Wawa is the Kichwa word for “baby”) is ideal for a more intimate, solo experience and comes with special rate offers.
Smaller than our other rooms, the Wawa Room is ideal for the traveler looking to experience the forest on their own.

Exploring from Mashpi Lodge is spell-binding from the moment you set foot outside the lodge to the moment you return.

• Hike along well-maintained trails accompanied by expert naturalist guides
• Take a trip on the Dragonfly. Not far from the Lodge itself, the Dragonfly Canopy Gondola awaits. Once you hop onboard, you’ll embark on an exhilarating odyssey that few have the privilege to experience. Our open-air gondola will allow you to soar gracefully above and over the lush canopy. As you glide seamlessly along the Dragonfly’s advanced cable system, every angle offers a panoramic spectacle, allowing you to drink in the awe-inspiring vastness of the verdant forest around you.
• As dawn’s first light makes its way across the Mashpi Reserve, an aerial adventure awaits atop the canopy. Our Guides beckon you to mount the Sky Bike, a unique and extremely safe contraption that allows you to glide above the treetops, offering unparalleled views of the forest below. Every time you pedal on the Sky Bike, you’ll gradually move across and over the breathtaking expanse of nature, allowing you to admire wonders that range from vibrant birds taking their morning flight to the misty layers of morning mist that weave through the verdant landscape.
• Bird watching: throughout the reserve or from the Observation tower and along the trails. There are hundreds of species of birds, many endemics and a few very different looking like the long-wattled umbrella bird.
• Explore the Butterfly House and life centre where many species of butterflies metamorphosize from eggs to adult butterflies (inluding the large Owl Butterfly).
• Hummingbird Garden. Stand amongst numerous species of hummingbirds as the whir around you and the nectar feeders.
