The newest vessel in Delfin’s fleet, the Delfin III, provides guests with an immersive rainforest experience whilst allowing them to indulge in one of the highest levels of luxury in the Amazon. With a capacity of 43 guests, the vessel has been beautifully finished with the finest of details, hardwood floors, designer furniture and handmade Peruvian artefacts. The two different itineraries have been meticulously planned to deliver an unforgettable Amazonian experience. On board the Delfin III, guests will experience up close and personal rainforest experiences with both the flora and fauna, along with gourmet food to compliment. There are four different room categories to choose from, consisting of the 8 Suites on the first deck and 2 Corner Suites at the front of the ship. The second deck is comprised of 10 Upper Suites and the largest and most luxurious of all, the Owner’s Suite. The top deck is quipped with a beautiful indoor and outdoor lounge, a sundeck with plunge pool, a spa and gym and the bar.
The Delfin III crew will be expecting your arrival at the Iquitos airport, where you will group transfer in a comfortable private vehicle. You will recieve a box lunch as the journey to Nauta begins, a small riverside town on the banks of the Marañon River and the first city founded in the department of Loreto. Once you reach Nauta, enjoy a VIP greeting at the Delfin private port along the shores of the Marañon River where the Delfin III awaits you. Aboard Delfin, you will be served by qualified staff who will introduce you to your exquisite and cozy suite, specially equipped with all the amenities for the experienced traveler as yourself. Orthopedic beds, pure cotton sheets, pillows of 100% pure natural latex, cotton bathrobes, air conditioning, and private bathroom with Spanish style hot water showers are all framed with a spacious private terrace we are sure you will enjoy to the fullest.
The walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on “Terra Firma” (nonflooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises! In the afternoon you will start cruising through the Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, peeking into different creeks and lagoons. This is one of the best preserved and protected zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Your guide will use his expert eye to pinpoint all of the biodiversity of this region. You will even have the opportunity to swim in the jungle river along with the famous pink dolphins!
The Delfin III skiffs skim the Samiria River and its tributaries, where an abundance of wildlife hides in the deep rainforest, such as blue and yellow macaws, scarlet macaws, toucans, umbrella birds, monkeys, capybaras and more. The naturalist and his expert eye pinpoint all the biodiversity of this region. This is also a popular dolphin feeding spot so you certainly won´t be the only one enjoying the plethora of fish below. After a delicious lunch you will visit Nauta Caño Creek. You will also have the opportunity to go fishing for the famous piranha, a delightful and challenging experience you won’t forget! As night approaches, your guide will take you on a night safari in search of caiman alligators and night birds.
In the morning you will have the opportunity to visit the community of San Francisco, which consists of a short skiff ride and jungle walk to meet local villagers who have called Amazonia their home for generations. Here you will visit a market featuring amazing arts and crafts from the local women. Following this visit will be a jungle walk with the guides to search for nocturnal creatures. In the afternoon the Delfin III will take you to the Marayali River, where the initial excursion will be done by skiff where you visit your first location populated by sloths, iguanas, and recently a new favorite location for anteaters. Birdwatchers are likely to check off their bucket list, the yellow-rumped caciques and the very elegant egrets.
With heavy hearts, the staff will wish you farewell as you begin your departure. At the port of Nauta, ground crew will be waiting to take you by vehicle back to the city of Iquitos, about a 95 kilometre journey by paved road. On the way from Nauta back to Iquitos airport, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (ACOBIA) where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. As well, there are also some other animals cared for by the centre that have been rescued from capture for the intention of being turned into pets and other threatening conditions. The land personnel will wait for you at the airport and give your boarding passes and help you check in. Delfin staff will be on hand to help you with your luggage and check in. The return flight will take you directly to the city of Lima, the capital of Peru. At the security gate, your guide and Delfin crew will say goodbye.
