All three lodges are small boutique lodges in relatively remote locations, offering exclusive services and very comfortable accommodation; large rooms, at Iguazu an external plunge pool, all meals, all drinks, private tours with your own driver/guide.

When written like that it sounds pretty good and it’s not until you break it down you start to get a better feel for the value;

The accommodations vary by destination (suited to the local environments); all rooms are spacious and very comfortable with excellent linen, a bar fridge (contents included).  After a day exploring you’ll want to relax and enjoy your room.

The dining areas are beautifully laid out and offer great service and high quality meals and a la carte lunch and dinner. Drinks are included and for your last evening you’ll have a degustation menu of local produce and paired wines.

The excursions are tailored just for you.  You’ll be in your own vehicle with your own guide.  Snacks and or lunch will be taken along when away from the lodge.  You go out for as long as you wish and if you decide to change your mind during the trip that’s fine.

Some things that cost a lot are can be ‘expensive’ and it’s not until you look at what’s included and the cost of you were to buy all of the components individually that you get a feeling of the value offered at Awasi properties.

INCLUDED IN YOUR STAY (with indicative costs to buy separately)

• GUIDE: A good, experienced, local guide will cost well in excess of USD$150 per day.
  For some excursions you’ll have a driver and a guide: the guide to accompany on your walk/activity and the driver to relocate the vehicle (so you don’t have to circle back) and to prepare lunch in a beautiful remote location.
• TRANSPORTATION: vehicle hire USD$300++ a day,
• MEALS:  Breakfast, lunch and dinner (and high-quality meals at that) maybe USD$250 per day.
• DRINKS: all wine/drinks USD$100 perhaps per day.
• EXCURSIONS/ENTRANCE FEES: any entrance fees – varies by destination – are included and excursions are extensive and you do what you want.
• ACCOMMODATION: Beautiful accommodation.
  For some form of comparison the Belmond Das Cataratas Hotel in Brazil (okay it is located next to the Falls) starts at AUD$1,000 per night – just for a standard room with breakfast.
• AIRPORT TRANSFERS: You’ll be picked up and dropped off by your Awasi guide.

SUMMARY

If you want private excursions, flexibility, very high levels of service then Awasi should be on your list.
Please Note: that with just 14 rooms at peak travel times they book out many months (8-12) in advance.

Whilst Awasi is by no means cheap, Awasi, in my opinion, offer good value.

It costs quite a lot as the standards are very high, the locations are remote (almost everything will have to be freighted in some how) and almost everything is included.
